ParkingLot
The parking lot is the place to keep track of work that needs to be done so we don't forget about it.
- Pets - Companion animals/pets
- Animals used for sustainablity/Will we have farm animals (goats, chickens)? How will we treat them?
- Guns - Guns in the community
- Parking - How are we going to handle the personal vehicles of residents and visitors?
- Parenting - What are the expectations and responsibilities of parents and children in the community, as well as the responsibilities of others in the community with regard to children?
- Diet - What are and are we not going to eat? When? What's our philosophy?
- Drug and Alcohol policy
From the agenda items suggested for our Kansas City (Spring 2007) meeting there were some that we felt we might not get to at that meeting, but we didn't want them to be forgotten. Many of them are already here in some form or another. I just want to list the couple that I'm not sure are already recorded elsewehere:
- We want to provide ourselves training in facilitation
- We want to provide ourselves training in some type of effective communication technique (possibly Non-violent communication)
- Clarify our position, or at least have a discussion about peace and non-violence: what it means and if it's a shared value of this community, how do we state that?
- What should we be calling ourselves?
At the NC meeting (Summer 2007) the decision was made to add the creation of a flyer for witch camps and other venues to our list of things to do. Link to the minutes where this was decided.
- Ensure that we have the eight structures that must be present to avoid structural conflict
- Shared vision, mission, and purpose because it helps determine where the group invests its money, time, and labor.
- Fair, participatory, transparent decision-making process.
- Know what you need to know, how do we connect?
- Process for determining membership. Select for emotional maturity. Discussion about what criteria we might want to select for when we invite someone to become a member can be started at Membership Criteria.
- Process and communication skills, and a conflict resolution process from the beginning.
- Process for accountability to each other.
- Agreements in writing.
- Graduated series of consequences, including being asked to leave. Discussion about that has begun at Consequences of not keeping agreements. The dues payment process page has some ideas for a process specific to non-receipt of membership dues.
- What kind of legal structure do we want?
- What is our position in regards to the Reclaiming Principles of Unity? There was some discussion about the Principles of Unity at the first Synergia meeting.
- Develop the agreements of what one can do if they want to step down from being a member.
- Develop regular martyr-slacker discussion (a suggestion DLC made).
- Prioritize our values, go thru the values shared in the excercise at Synergia and see which ones need to have agreements made around them.
The following are also listed under "pending work" on the Community Portal page:
- Discuss and maybe define some of the words used in our vision statement. And then devolop ways to make sure that they remain a part of the community. For example what do we mean by "Permaculture" and how do we use it, and what do we mean by "Magic" and how do we use it?
- Create a tracking system of hours spent working for the community and decide how this might relate to money contributed to the community.
