Agreements

Current agreements

  • We have a Mission, which will not be easily modified.
  • We want a multi-generational community.
  • Our community will have an independent incomes financial structure. With this structure, each person is responsible for their own financial support.
  • We empowered ourselves to be the current decision making Members of this community and have agreed to some requirements for community members. We have agreed on an On-line Decision Making process to use until we have completed consensus training.
  • We have an initial Membership path for people who want to become a member. Membership allows an individual to participate in the decision-making process for the community. We have not decided on a path for people who wish to live in the community. Membership does not, at this time, entitle a person to be a resident of the community.
  • We welcome Supporters and have some requirements for community supporters.

Agreements in progress

  • Service project - We have strong service values, but are still deciding on a focus.
  • Financial policy - Discussions about financial issues have begun.
  • Establishing good interpersonal skills - "Learn good communication and group process skills. Make clear communication and resolving conflicts a priority." (From Diana Leafe Christian's book, "Creating a Life Together" pg 8: one of the things she recommends addressing in the early stages of forming a community in order to reduce future structural conflict.)

Smaller decisions made on-line and at meetings

Agreements in the Parking lot

  • Pets - Companion animals/pets
  • Guns - Guns in the community
  • Parking - How are we going to handle the personal vehicles of residents and visitors?
  • Parenting - What are the expectations and responsibilities of parents and children in the community, as well as the responsibilities of others in the community with regard to children?
  • Diet - What are and are we not going to eat? When? What's our philosophy?

The Parking lot has other issues, not mentioned here, that we want to make sure are not forgotten.
