Fall 2008
Plans to hold the meeting at Diana's Grove were canceled, and it was consensed to hold the meeting at the home of Sophia Sparks in Grants Pass, Oregon, Nov 21-23, instead.
Summary of decisions consensed at the fall 2008 meeting
- Acknowledge that creating a network of RIICs is one of our values and postpone details of what the network will look like, other than to decide what to do with our common assets, until we get one RIIC off the ground, the need materializes, or the energy manifests to do so.
The following day, the need and energy manifested to clarify the network model to the following degree:
- The RIIC group is a hub, with locationally specific groups serving as spokes. This hub functions as a guiding body and access point for the RIIC network. The hub preserves the mission and vision of the RIIC and actively helps manifest spoke communities that embrace the mission and vision. The hub also governs itself and honors existing agreements, and serves as a central meeting space for spokes and other members. Spokes have autonomous membership processes. Membership in the spoke does not require membership in the hub and vice-versa.
The following decision was consensed to allocate community resources as an appreciation gift to Sophia:
- That we take $150 from our community account to show our appreciation for Sophia’s facilitation, in addition give her $20 each in recognition of her generosity for hostessing us.
Decisions postponed at this meeting to be revisited later
- Currently existing assets used to fund website and brochures etc. Website—current website will be network, each RIIC will get a link. Each RIIC needs its own bank account(s).
This proposal was stalled in step #3, collecting all concerns.
After we talked about this issue for the allotted time, someone suggested that we shelve this issue due to the fact that questions were coming up that some thought could not be answered until we had the network talk a bit more resolved.
Earlier plans for Fall 2008 meeting
- Decisions consensed to at the spring meeting:
The meeting will begin on Thursday. We should travel on Thursday morning, arriving before noon and coordinating flights, so that pick-up by DG is facilitated. We could contribute gas money. The Diana’s Grovers are excited to have us there. Cost for space and catering will be $45 per night per person. The meeting will begin before dinner on Thursday and end at lunchtime on Sunday. The staff can help with the ritual and give us talks about intentional community and/or the DG Cornerstones (sacred wounds) at no extra cost. There is no advance deposit required, but Cricket would like to offer one anyway. We will need an exact count of attendees one month in advance of the meeting.
